Description:
Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is excited to offer this sweet Caspian Blue 1965 Ford Mustang convertible. This 1965 Mustang is part of the first-generation Ford produced from 1964 until 1969. Within the first production year more than 417,000 Mustangs were sold, setting a record for a new model from Detroit; not to mention creating an entire class of automobiles by itself. These cars had sporty long hoods, along with short rear decks, and became the progenitor of the “Pony Car” market. The ’65 Mustang was the beginning of a market that still is going strong today, with Camaros, Challengers, Cougars, Barracudas and more joining the fray in the early years.
According to the owner of this car, it has only had 2 previous owners: the first was a student at SMU, who purchased it new, and then later sold it to his professor at SMU so he could pay for grad school. The professor sold the car to its current owner 31 years ago, when he decided to invest in a new residence. This good-looking 1965 Mustang convertible is equipped with a 289 CID V8, topped with a 4-barrel carb, and is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Fire this pony up and you’ll hear the unmistakable rumble of a of its dual exhaust. Jump in, crank up the 289, lower the power top, turn up the radio, slip it into first gear, and head down the highway. You’ll be thrown back to the sixties in the blue and white Pony interior, done in synthetic leather, while you listen to your tunes coming from the AM radio. All this Pony Car wants to do is cruise down the road with the top down, giving its occupants that free feeling that is like nothing possible from a hardtop ride. However, if you need to put the top up and run the factory A/C, you do have that option as well. Options on this beautiful convertible Mustang include: Air Conditioning, AM Radio, Power Convertible Top, Seatbelts, Vinyl Interior, and Radial tires.
