Description:
Gateway Classic Cars Houston showroom is thrilled to have one of the baddest Eleanor-style 1967 Mustang fastbacks that we’ve hosted (or seen, for that matter). Just seeing that carbon fiber front splitter and red Cobra emblem in the grille should tell you that this car has performance to back up its looks. This snarling beast has been treated to a gorgeous red Dupon Nason basecoat/clearcoat finish, and the white racing stripes really add some visual pop. This is one ’67 Fastback that just cannot go unnoticed – whether it’s parked, or on the open road, it draws attention…so if you’re prone to spirited driving, you might become acquainted with another name for this red: “Arrest Me Red”! This is NOT a car for the faint hearted or those that prefer stealth. Powered by a FiTech fuel injected, stroked 351 CID V8 (that was putting out 430HP/450 lb/ft torque before the injection was added), the aluminum-headed beast will quickly remind you why it has 4-point racing harnesses at all four seating positions. A The beefy 351 sends its spent fossils through a set of coated Hedman headers into its dual exhaust, which has stainless steel mufflers and that sweet side exit. Backing the potent mill is a Tremec World Class T5 5-speed manual transmission, which sends the grunt out back via a custom aluminum driveshaft to the upgraded Ford 9-inch rear end that’s filled with a set of 3.73:1 gears and a limited slip differential; so this baby can both launch hard and still cruise at reasonable RPM on the highway. And speaking of the highway – this beauty is equipped with a giant custom fuel cell, so you should get plenty of miles between stops. If you want to go off-highway and on-track, this Eleanor has the tires, wheels, suspension, steering, and brakes to help you stay ahead of the pack. Nitto NT555 high performance radials (P235/40R18 up front, P275/40/ZR18 out back) wrap the polished, lightweight Boss wheels, urethane suspension bushings, a beefy front sway bar, tubular control arms, fully adjustable coilover shocks (at all 4 corners), a fully adjustable Heidts 4-link rear suspension, heavy duty full length subframe connectors, massive drilled rotors all around, multi-piston Wilwood brake calipers, and Mustang II steering combine to give drivers confidence that this steed can be ridden hard, clipping those apexes every time. Inside, the the driver will find that the beefy billet Hurst pistol grip shifter falls easily to hand. The black synthetic leather seating is comfortable, and the Scat Pro buckets up front, along with the 4-point harnesses, keep the driver held securely in place during hard driving. A tilt steering column supports the fat wood-rimmed billet aluminum steering wheel, and a full set of AutoMeter Phantom gauges keep the driver always informed; while the air conditioning and Memphis Audio-powered sound system (with its massive subwoofers) keeps occupants cool and entertained at the same time. A giant Alpine touch screen control unit provides visual from the backup camera, along with GPS and satellite radio capability. This is one very well thought out build, and likely won’t last long: many of these Eleanor style fastbacks are selling for nearly twice the price, so don’t let someone else beat you to it!
