We are proud to present this 1966 Ford Mustang GT K Code. She has been restored to her former glory. They made 5,469 K codes in 1966, but only 1,729 were coupes. While the K-code engine could be paired with the GT equipment group (which added front disc brakes, dual exhaust through the rear valance, fog lamps, and special stripes), Ford tracked total K-code engines rather than individual option packages like the GT. Estimates by vintage registries suggest only a fraction of those total K-codes were ordered with the actual GT option. She has a upgraded driveline to include rebuilding the HiPo engine, new clutch, and rebuilt rear with new 3:00 gears and a Yukon posi unit. It has a deluxe interior trim to include wood grain trim, and pistol grip door handles. Optioned with the center consoled and “Pony” interior embossed seats, and Rally pack gauges too. The transmission is the legendary close ratio top loader 4 speed that shifts smoothly. The car has BFG double red wall tires and the correct 14″ snowflake wheels. The previous owner installed a new performance suspension, and it handles great for a 1966 pony car. This car was ordered back in 1966 to run. No Power Steering or Power Brakes. It has power steering and power brake delete for maximum performance, but all GT’s come with front disc brakes and quick ratio steering boxes. The “K” coupes were the fastest of the three models available that year because they were the lightest.
